The GKOS Keyboard - an Open Standard The GKOS keyboard is a set of 6 keys on the back of the user device to enable fast text entry, as well as provide all functions and characters found on a standard PC QWERTY keyboard. It is intended for use on the miniature wireless devices of the 2G, 3G and beyond. It allows a wide screen on the front panel and thus provides the space for a wider screen. The major features of the keyboard are: Only 6 keys -Screen not occupied:Other combinations of keys produce different functions such as space and backspace -More speed by practice: with practice, speeds of 50 WPM can be achieved -Full set of characters: The GKOS keyboard is intended for replacing the QWERTY keyboard. -Free - GKOS is an open standard, meaning anybody is free to manufacture and use i Typing on a GKOS keyboard for typing letters and numbers, maximum 2 simultaneous key presses are needed per hand but whenever one hand presses two keys , the other hand needs to press one key or no key at all. The Letters A to F are just single keys and the rest needs the press of simultaneous keys. There are standards where thumbs can be used to type by suitably modifiyng the implementation. The X, Y, Z. letters forms the most difficult combination because three keys must be pressed simultaneously.
