Z-source inverter
ABSTRACT
A more interesting solution that overcomes the drawbacks of a VSI is by using a ZSI.The distinguishing feature of this inverter is its input symmetrical LC lattice network which has four impedances. In this design the ZSI provides the single stage voltage buck-boost operation, which results in lower costs and decreased losses. Since in this publication there have been many other words which describe different applications of the basic solution as well as modification. The ZSI can be made bidirectional by replacing the input diode with a bidirectionally conducting, unidirectional blocking switch. Just recently to eliminate the inconvenience of typical ZSI, there were modifications of the basic structure whose consisted mainly in change of primary source position. Although the control principle of the ZSI is more complicated it provides a potentially cheaper, more powerful, reliable and efficient approach to be used for fuel cell powered systems.
