Overview :
A air powered car is a car that uses a engine powered by compressed air.
It was invented by Guy Nègre, a French engineer; in 1991 started Moteur Development International (MDI), Luxembourg.
The car can be powered solely by air or combined (as in a hybrid electric vehicle) with gasoline, diesel & ethanol.
Also called as a low pollution or zero pollution cars
PURPOSE :-
Gasoline is becoming more expensive and impractical.
It is also damaging to the environment.
It is not a renewable resource, it will eventually run out.
As air Powered cars runs on compressed air instead of gasoline, with zero pollution / Ecofriendly in operation.
THE CAR :-
No emission.
4 – cylinder
Uses vegetable oil as lubricant, and only needs to be changed 50,000 km.
Range 120 miles.
Max. speed 220 km/h.
0 – 80 km/h in 7sec.
Solar panels on the roof can be used for the heating system.
The cold air produced can be used for the air conditioning system in the car.
ADVANTAGES :-
Refuelling can be done at home using an air compressor or at service stations.
Compressed air engines reduce the cost of vehicle production, because there is no need to build a cooling system, spark plugs, starter motor, or mufflers.
Reduction or elimination of hazardous chemicals such as gasoline or battery acids/metals
LIMITATIONS :-
The vehicle's air compressor will probably run on gasoline and this gas will produce pollution when burned.
Distance could also become a disadvantages. (less than 120 miles)
Refuelling the compressed-air container using a home or low-end conventional air compressor may take as long as 4 hours.
