A function room, reception room or banquet room is a room or building for the purpose of organizing a party, a banquet, a wedding or other reception or other social event. Function rooms are often found in pubs, clubs, hotels or restaurants. Some are run by fraternal organizations and are rented out as a fundraiser for the organization, such as Masonic Halls. Some condominium associations and apartment buildings have these to keep the party noise out of the residential units. The first recorded mention of "function rooms" is in 1922.
