Laminate flooring seminar report

Laminate flooring (also called floating wood tile in the United States) is a fused multi-layer synthetic flooring product along with a lamination process. Laminate flooring simulates wood (or sometimes stone) with a photographic application layer under a transparent protective layer. The inner core layer is usually composed of melamine resin and fiberboard materials. There is a European standard EN 13329: 2000 which specifies the requirements and test methods for laminate floor coverings. Laminate flooring has grown significantly in popularity, perhaps because it can be easier to install and maintain than more traditional surfaces, such as hardwood floors. It can also have the advantages of a lower cost and requires less ability to install than alternative flooring materials. It is reasonably durable, hygienic (various brands contain an antimicrobial resin), and relatively easy to maintain.
Installation Laminate floors are reasonably easy for a DIY homeowner to install. Laminate flooring is packed as a number of tongue and groove planks, which can be clicked on one another. Sometimes a glue holder is provided to facilitate installation. Installed laminate floors often "float" on the sub floor on a foam / film base that provides properties that reduce moisture and sound. A small gap (1-10 millimeters) is required between the floor and any immovable object such as walls, this allows the floor to expand without being obstructed. The zocaloes (sockets) can be removed and then reinstalled after the flooring placement is complete for a cleaner finish, or the base can be left in place with the floor touched on it, then small trim such trimmings Such as molding shoes or the larger room Round moldings can be mounted on the bottoms of the baseboards. Saw cuts on planks are usually required at the edges and around the closet and door entrances, but professional installers typically use the door jamb bottom saws to cut a space to a height That allows the floor to pass under the jamb and the door cover for a cleaner look. Incorrect installation may result in a peak, where the adjacent boards form a V-shaped protruding from the floor, or recesses, in which two adjacent panels are spaced from each other. |
