A room controller is a device that controls electrical devices for a building or residence. Room control systems typically include one or more keyboards or touch panel interfaces. Existing room control systems require user input to change the power to the lights and fans. This project aims to design an intelligent room controller, which can detect the presence of human beings and automatically controls the power of electrical devices in a room. Human presence can be detected using a motion detection unit located at the point of entry or exit of a room. The motion detection unit uses the IR LED and the photodetector. Based on the output of the motion detection unit, the microcontroller intelligently decides when to turn the electrical devices on or off in a room. This control room approach to human presence incorporates the concept of "smart" technology in room automation. This concept is proposed to be applied in single-door rooms.
