Would it be possible to add milkweed to sand or clay bricks to increase a water repellant brick? I belong to a club (of sorts) called Toronto Survialists who want to prepare for diasters, meltdowns, Armageddon and Great Depressions which should peak some time in the future. In the meantime, we are trying to learn ways of being self sufficient. One formula for making bricks is, cattail + ash + lime, but lime is not always available, or it could be made from an ash but the heat is more than what a one mite be able to make.
We are down to learning mud and clay brick. I figure I will be about 82 when the meltdown occurs, which would be about 16 years or more from this date, if ever. Is it possible that the cattails (which may have been the Egyptian way of doing things) actually increased the heat needed to make a lime? Then, there is the pea, sand and
calcium chloride? But, in the bush with the bears where does one find
calcium chloride and lime?
Have a good day,
