PSU AS A TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER The PSU powers all the computer's main components. Without a good, reliable PSU a computer cannot function properly, or it could damage the rest of the computer. A PSU converts main AC to low-voltage regulated DC power for the internal components of a computer. Sometimes a power supply unit can act as a part of cooling system because it has got an inbuilt fan . DISADVANTAGE OF A PSU AS TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER It is the most underrated part of a PC. One might need a higher-rated PSU sometimes after further new installations. Fans that are oversized for their serviced requirement in high flow noise thus increase stress on the fan and system. Objective: Develop a product or hardware that can control the speed of the fan based on temperature Conventionally used fans speed can be controlled by using the regulators which is the old and burdensome method. And this way of using becomes inefficient when the temperature has to be monitored over long time ranges So a new method of automatic control of fan speed using the temperature sensors can be achieved This method is innovative saves most of the time and energy The principle behind this is very simple that is to turn on the fan when temperature is high and to turn off the fan when temperature is low this is achieved by using a thermistor which increases or decreases the resistance value . Significance: To monitor the environments that is not comfortable, or possible, for humans to monitor, especially for extended periods of time Prevents waste of energy when it’s not hot enough for a fan to be needed. To assist people who are disabled to adjust the fan speed automatically DESCRIPTION: This circuit can cool your heat generating electronic devices by operating a DC fan when the temperature in its vicinity increases above the preset level. Its operation is fully automatic and turns off when the temperature returns normal. It uses a small 12V DC brush fewer fans used in computer. Voltage Regulation: It’s basically this – maintain a precise voltage regardless of the current drawn by the load. Three basic components are needed to achieve good voltage regulation. A precision reference (zener diode) to set the output voltage. A muscle component (transistor) to deliver the required current. An automatic controller (op amp) to adjust the transistor drive. The “prime directive” of the op amp is to adjust the base drive of Q1 delivering the required load current while keeping the output voltage at a fixed value. |
