The current education system in India is quite strong. We have inherited our education system from the British and we have made significant changes in it over the past 60 years. India is emerging as a global power now although there are gaps in the system that needs to be worked on. But, we have made a substantial impact globally.
Our present educational system does not play a significant role in shaping the future of our youth. It makes students corrupt and teaches them only indulgence and self-centeredness. Some of the major problems with this system are as below.
Sole Goal - Make Money
The goal of this system has become to make money for the owners of the institutes and, in turn, this education also makes the young people are hungry for indulgence, power and money. They only think about partying, sex, fashion, food, gadgets and vehicles. They blindly follow Western styles and culture. For these young people, earning money is the only goal of life and their only motivational force is money. They want to go abroad and make money and stay there forever. These young people perceive education as a means of earning money.
Literate in the educated
This education only gives degrees / diplomas without any basic knowledge. Try to make people read and write, not educate. He prepares them for a job at a multinational and totally ignores their overall development.
Make fools look "bright"
The current examination system and assessment system ignores skills and aptitudes among students. This examination system is not a real test of the child's ability. This does injustice to those who are really smart and cool. By virtue of this system, those who are routine, regular, and average in their thinking, focus, and intellect appear bright and intelligent; And those who are unconventional, out of the box, above the ordinary in their thinking, focus and intellect appear as losers and fools. In an advanced stage of life, these seemingly "bright" people take higher positions in society and organizations and therefore the whole society is degraded by the disorder they create.
Followers instead of leaders
This system produces followers rather than leaders. These "bright" people have no vision and have short-term goals. When they grow up in life, they are not able to shape their life, society, country and new generation.
Ineffective Evaluation System
There is no doubt that the current educational system is making engineers, doctors, CAs and other officials, but there is a lack of values. The current system tests only what a student has filled out or is able to copy. It does not prove what the student has learned and what ideas they have of life and work. It does not test the character, the aptitude and the attitude of the student. This is why our bureaucrats and police officers are corrupted (although their intention at first was not such).
Lack of moral values
It does not emphasize patriotism and humanity. Young people have little or no value to our heritage and culture. It only prepares youth as job seekers or job sellers with low value system. There are very few or no human values. Now people do not respect human life. People make fun of honesty; Sincerity and hard work are considered foolish, the elderly are not respected, women are considered as sexual objects only. There is no sense of duty and sacrifice.
Lack of total personality development
There is a lack of total personality development. The system produces indifferently trained, poorly motivated students who have few job prospects. For these students, success means having money no matter what the medium. This education is not capable of developing leadership qualities in students.
Without emphasis on creativity and innovation
Less emphasis is placed on research activities and knowledge orientation. The system does not inspire children to go beyond what is set to be boundaries. What students learn is routine and regular. Students are forced to do a lot of routine work just to get marks. Students are not encouraged to take activities of their interest.
Do not focus on learning
There is too much stress on getting marks and this encourages children to mug up & pass exams rather than learning concepts. Institutions are putting more emphasis on completing the curriculum and helping students pass the exam rather than building their character and improving their personality.
No intellectual development
This educational system is separate from the real world. The outside world, The system aims to create a complacent workforce that is driven by MNC's large multinationals and friendly governments. The system only teaches you to memorize things. It makes working children who are better at repetition. The goal is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to raise them and to form them at a standard or common level. There is no originality in any way.
