The relationship between the Government of India under the coalition of the United Front (India) and Suzuki Motor Corporation over the joint venture was a hotly debated point in Indian media until Suzuki Motor Corporation won the controlling share. This highly profitable joint venture that had an almost monopolistic trade in the Indian car market and the nature of the partnership built up until then was the underlying reason for most problems. The success of the joint venture led Suzuki to increase its assets from 26% to 40% in 1987, to 50% in 1992, and to 56.21% from 2013 on wards. In 1982 both venture partners signed an agreement to nominate your candidate for the position of Managing Director and each Managing Director would have a term of five years.
