Water demand is continuously increasing in the arid and semi-arid countries. Therefore, the higher quality water is conserved to drink, while the lower quality water is recommended for irrigation. Domestic sewage is less expensive and is considered an attractive source of irrigation water per day. Thus, interest in reuse of wastewater for irrigation is growing rapidly in most countries. In addition, wastewater is a valuable source of plant nutrients and organic matter needed to maintain the fertility and productivity of arid soils. Domestic wastewater contains essential nutrients such as N, P, K and micro-nutrients that are beneficial to plant growth.
