Around many researches in the field of speech recognition. Due to sophisticated signal processing algorithms and powerful computers available, today's computer-based voice processing system has reached a complex structure with high accuracy. The challenge is to maintain standard performance while using limited computing and memory resources. Investigations in the area of the wheelchair control system are still on. Many people with disabilities do not have the essential ability to control a joystick in an electric wheelchair. This can be a major drawback for the user who is permanently unable to move any of the arms or legs. They can use their wheelchair easier using only voice commands. In the proposed design, the main idea of using voice-activated technology to control the movement of the wheelchair is to prove that it can be an exclusive solution for severe handicaps. The purpose of this project is to implement a voice recognition system to recognize user input words. The approach implemented is based on the interconnection of a microcontroller with a voice recognition IC of a dependent speaker.
For future technology, the wheelchair would be fully autonomous and will automatically move based on user expression and behavior. That should be fully automatic and wireless. In this project we are firstly working on the automated voice-based wheelchair and after that we will combine software based which will be controlled by computer and GSM mobile phones. After that we are thinking of putting a biometric feature on it that should be unsafe. Much effort has been made to develop robotic wheelchairs that work the same way to a standalone robot, so that the user gives a final target and directs as the smart wheelchair moves toward the goal. Other smart wheelchairs limit your collision avoidance assistance level, these systems usually do not require prior knowledge of an area. A voice controlled wheelchair can help by entering voice commands like right, left, back, forward, etc. Here we can also control our wheelchair by some angle where the user wants to rotate his wheelchair as 30˚, 45˚, 60 ˚ etc. This implementation is new from the other developed prototype and is very useful to turn the wheelchair to the left and to the right with some angle. And this method can be achieved using high-step servo or stepper motor and less RPM.
