Abstracts: Current energy conversion machines are inefficient due to loss of largepart of energy in overcoming frictions. Production of more energy means more burning of fuel and causing pollutions. Its better to save energy rather than producing it. It is therefore the objective to save energy by eliminating frictions. It further helps to reduce wear of the part. Such an objective is achieved by replacing conventional mechanical bearings with the magnetic bearings. Magnetic bearing work on the principle of magnetic levitation, in which the rotating parts are separate by air gap by repulsive force of full permanent magnets. These permanent magnets do not require energy and have sufficient long life. In this project, magnetic levitation principle is implemented in vertical axes wind turbine to make it efficient to operate in the areas with lower average wind speed. With magnetic levitation, the life of the machine can also be expected to increase since there is no wear of parts. It gives higher torques compared to turbine with bearings installed.
