In clayey terrain, the problem of swelling causes vertical displacements in the sub-road, and finally, failure in the pavement occurs due to the lack of adequate drainage systems. A popular and inexpensive method of soil stabilisation is to use lime. Research indicates that, based on environmental and atmospheric conditions, the chemical reaction of lime and clay soil is not achieved well, to possess at low temperature and high humidity. This work aims to investigate the influence of the addition of rice husk ash on the reaction between soil and lime and the lime reaction and determine the physical and mechanical characteristics of the soil. Therefore, sufficient laboratory soil tests, such as the Atterberg limits, compaction, the California bearing ratio (CBR) and the direct shear test, are performed and the results analysed. The results generally indicate that the addition of lime and rice husk ash (RHA) causes a decrease in dry density and an increase in the optimum water content. The increase in lime and RHA causes a decrease in the boundary of the soil liquid and the plastic boundary. The addition of lime and RHA to the soil causes a decrease in the deform-ability of the soil samples and gives more fragile materials.
All millions of years of tons of pozzolanic material is produced throughout India which is classified as hazardous material. It is best to use this type of pozzolan material in a variety of ways, including building fill, road joints or cement mix. This project uses pozzolanic materials such as Rice Ash (RHA), jute and lime to improve the properties of clay soil, to start construction on weak and less stable soil. The proposed project is to examine the amount of force that clay soils can achieve when stabilised using RHA, jute and lime. The first step is to determine the properties of the soil index by limits of consistency, determination of specific gravity and wet sieve analysis. These are basically done to get an idea of the soil properties. In this project it is decided to do the following tests, namely; Determination of specific gravity, consistency limits, wet sieve analysis, hydrometer test, compaction test, California bearing test, unconfined compression strength test. It was found that the addition of RHA, jute and lime to the soil improved the resistance characteristics of soils.
