Many disabled people are able to handle a joystick to control the electric wheelchair, but on the other hand, many people do not have the need to operate a joystick. In addition, many of them face difficulties in avoiding obstacles. The objective of this work is to implement a multiple control system to control the movement of the wheelchair by integrating a finger movement tracking system, a small word recognition system based on vocabulary speakers and a group of monitoring sensors to avoid obstacles. In addition, a joystick control system is also implemented in order to facilitate patients who are able to use the joystick. The subject is achieved through the use of a microcontroller with digital signal processor for recognition of isolated words and sets of sensors.
