The process of billing the electricity consumption we are using today is a very long process and requires a lot of man power. Energy billing in India is prone to errors. Going to the home of each consumer and generating the invoice is a laborious and time consuming task. Errors are introduced at every stage of energy billing such as errors with electromechanical meters, human errors while noting meter reading and error while processing paid invoices and accounts due. There are many cases where the bill is paid and then shown as a due amount on the next bill. There is no adequate way to know the maximum consumer demand, usage details, line losses and theft of energy. If a consumer does not pay the bill, the operator needs to go to their homes to disconnect the power supply. These processes are repetitive and take so much time. To overcome all the difficulties present in the system, we are introducing a fully automated billing system, ie "Prepaid energy billing using an adaptable meter". In this article, the electronic energy meter is replaced by the meter of adjustment that includes both the measurement of energy consumption and the prepaid system. In the proposed system, the interface is easy to use. The billing process is prepaid energy billing, which could be titled; Pay first and then use it. Energy consumption is not constant throughout the day; It is more during peak hours and less during the night. This system also implements an automated system that can charge different amounts for energy consumption during different times. The prepaid system is designed with intelligent technology using the "renesas controller" and the recharging process is by some method of communication, ie the recharge based on GSM. Recharging can be done from any remote location without having access to the meter physically.
