Abstracts: This project is based on the base isolation of structure. Conventional earthquake- structural systems are fixed base systems that are ‘fixed’ to the ground. They derive their earthquake resistance from their ability to absorb seismic energy in specially designed regions of the structure, such as in beam near beam column joints of reinforced concrete frames .these region should be capable of deforming into an inelastic range and sustaining large reversible cycles of plastic deformation, all without losing strength and stiffness to a level where it would jeopardize the stability and integrity of the structure. These in elastic activities also mean large deformation in primary structure members resulting in significant amount of structure and non structure damage .in fact ,conventional structure are vulnerable to damage and even collapse when subjected to severe earthquakes. Special techniques are required to design building such that remain practically undamaged even in severe earthquake .building with such improved seismic performance usually cost more than normal building do. However, this cost in justified through improved earthquake performance. Base Isolation is the concept of protecting a water tank from the damaging effects of an earthquake by introducing some type of support that isolates it from the shaking ground .The idea behind base isolation is to detach the water tank from the ground in such a way that earthquake motions are not transmitted up through the water tank, or at least greatly reduced.
