For more than 100 years, the vehicles have been rolling on air cushions wrapped in rubber. The pneumatic tire has served both drivers and passengers both on the road and on the road, but a new Michelin design could change all that: the Tweel Airless tire.
The Tweel (a wheel trunk and tire) is a concept of airless tire design developed by the French tire company Michelin. Its significant advantage over tires is that Tweel does not use a bladder filled with compressed air and, therefore, can not burst, have leakage pressure or become flat. Instead, the inner hub of the Tweel assembly connects to the flexible polyurethane spokes that are used to support an outer edge and these engineered components assume the role of shock absorption provided by compressed air in a traditional tire.
