Vertical communication is communication where information or messages flow between subordinates and superiors of the organization. Without communicating with superiors and subordinates, no organization runs a single day. Communication without a higher level and the lower level employee is very essential for the organization.
Vertical communication is also referred to as bidirectional communication because in this communication the management can give directives and send information down and also receive periodic information from subordinates on the effectiveness of their policies and the progress of the organization.
Vertical communication, in other words, means upward and downward communication. In this communication channel, the messages do not jump directly from the top to the bottom or vice versa, but arrive through a correct channel. So clearly does it provide an appropriate channel for management to convey ideas, information, instructions to employees and enable them to communicate their responses up. When a communication flows from a higher level of authority to a lower level of authority. It is called a downlink. When it flows from a lower level of authority to a higher level of authority it is called an upward communication.
