Measurement of the current of the electric current is not always easy, especially when the measured signal requires additional electronic conditioning. Simply connect an ammeter to an electrical circuit and read the value is no longer enough. The current signal must be fed to a computer in which the sensors convert the current into a proportional voltage with minimal influence on the measured circuit. The basic requirements of the sensor are galvanic isolation and high bandwidth, usually from DC up to at least 100 kHz. Conventional current metering systems tend to be physically large and technically complex. Conventional sensors are physically large and technically complex; They also have disadvantages as indicated above. They are therefore replaced by magnetoresistive current sensors. The magnetic field sensors are based on the magnetoresistive effect. These sensors can be easily fabricated using thin film technologies with widths and lengths in the micrometer range. To reduce the dependence on temperature, they are usually configured as a half bridge or a complete bridge. In one arm of the bridge, the poles of the barber are placed in opposite directions above the two magnetoresistors, so that in the presence of a magnetic field the value of the first resistance increases and the value of the second one decreases. |
