WIND LOADS Wind Loads.pptx (Size: 1.22 MB / Downloads: 51) Some common type of Loads on buildings are; Live load Dead load Wind load Earthquake load Flood load Rain load Snow load Wind loads It is often the more critical load imposed on buildings. Live loads but usually treated separately due to their complexity. In short; The load applied on the buildings due to the flow of wind is called as wind loads. Winds kinetic energy is converted into potential energy of pressure. Components and Cladding:- For its design the building must meet the following conditions, The mean roof height h must be less than or equal to 60 ft (h ≤60 ft). The building is enclosed. The building is a regular-shaped building or structure. The building has either a flat roof, a gable roof with θ ≤45", or a hip roof with θ ≤ 27. BURJ KHALIFA For a building of this height and slenderness, wind forces and the resulting motions in the upper levels become dominant factors in the structural design. Wind tunnel test and studies were performed in this regard under the direction of Dr. Peter Irwin. Wind tunnel models account for the cross wind effects of wind induced vortex shedding on the building. |
