Dice is used to play many games like the snake ladder, ludo, etc. Generally it consists of wooden or plastic dice, which deforms over time and become skewed. A digital die is a good alternative to old dice, it can not be biased or deformed. It works at such a high speed that no one can cheat. To create this digital circuit of the dice, we mainly used 555 IC timer and 4017 IC.
In this digital data circuit we have used 6 LEDs, each LED represents a number (1-6) of Data. The LEDs start flashing when you press the button and stop when you release it. After the release, the illuminated LED tells the numbers, you got into dice. As if fifth not. The LED stays on after releasing the button, it means that it has 5 on Dice. We have connected 6 LEDs to the output Q0 to Q5, and the seventh output Q6 is connected again to the PIN RESET 15. So after the LED 6 starts from the first LED in Q0.
To apply the clock pulse in PIN 14 to 4017 IC, we used 555 IC timer in Astable mode. The oscillating output generated in PIN 3 of 555 has been applied to PIN 14 of 4017, so that the output can be advanced with each clock pulse. We can control the speed of the flashing LEDs using the potentiometer (RV1), turning the potentiometer will change the oscillation frequency of the timer 555, hence the speed of the clock pulse. The frequency of 555 can be calculated using this formula: F = 1.44 / ((R1 + 2 * RV1) * C1).
