Worked on a project at the ERC with a team of 7 people from three different institutes. The task was to design (selection of motor, batteries, packaging the components and developing an electronic control) a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). Proposed to drivingly engage an electric motor to the transmission drive shaft of the existing powertrain. Used an AMT for electronic control of the gearshift. Challenges faced were to add minimum to the cost of vehicle and space constraint under the hood. The designed HEV went to the prototype formation stage. The suggested AMT is now being considered as an economic option in other vehicles for increasing driving comfort.
