All important parts of the clothes washer are electrically controlled, including the inner drum, valves, pump and heating element. The programmer is like the conductor of an orchestra, changing these things in and out in a sensible sequence that goes something like this:
1. You put your clothes in the machine and detergent in the machine itself or in a tray up.
2. Set the desired program and turn on the power.
3. The programmer opens the water valves so hot and the cold water enters the machine and fills the external and internal drums. The water usually enters the top and drips through the detergent tray, washing any soap in the machine.
4. The controller switches off the water valves.
5. The thermostat measures the temperature of the incoming water. If it is too cold, the programmer turns on the heating element. This works just like an electric kettle or boiler.
6. When the water is warm enough, the programmer causes the inner drum to rotate back and forth, sloshing the laundry through the water with soap.
7. Detergent removes dirt from your clothing and catches it in the water.
8. The programmer opens a valve so that water drains from both drums. Then turn on the pump to help drain the water.
9. The programmer opens the water valves again to get water into the drums.
10. The programmer causes the inner drum to rotate back and forth for clean water to rinse clothes. Empty both drums and repeat this process several times to get rid of all the soap.
11. When clothes are rinsed, the programmer causes the inner drum to rotate at a really high speed: about 80 mph (130 km / h). The laundry is thrown against the outer edge of the inner drum, but the water they contain is small enough to pass through the tiny holes of the drum inside the outer drum. Spinning gets his clothes dry using the same idea as a centrifuge.
12. The pump removes the remaining water from the outer drum and the wash cycle ends.
13. Take off your clothes and wonder how clean they are!
14. But there is still the problem of drying your wet clothes to find out.
