A Parking Guidance And Information System Based On Wireless Sensor Network



INTRODUCTION

During last two decades car ownership is growing tremendously.
Present PGIS gives information only at entrance and exit.
In this project we can monitor the parking system through our PC by receiving parking slot status from zigbee protocol


IR SENSOR


A sensor is a converter that measures a physical quantity and converts it into a signal which can be read by an observer or by an instrument (mostly electronic).

This sensor can be used for most indoor applications where no important ambient light is present.

This sensor can be used to identify object moving at high speed.

The circuit is extremely simple one.

The basic idea is to send infra red light through IR-LEDs, which is then reflected by any object in front of the sensor.
Use another IR-LED, to detect the IR light that was emitted from another led of the exact same type!
This is an electrical property of Light emitting Diodes (LEDs) which is the fact that a led produces a voltage difference across its leads when it is subjected to light.


zigbee technology


Wireless networking protocol targeted towards automation and remote control applications.
IEEE 802.15.4 committee started working on a low data rate standard a short while later.
Low data rate.
Low power consumption.
Low cost.
Covers 10-75 meters, depending on the RF environment.
The data rate is 250kbps at 2.4GHz, 40kbps at 915MHz and 20kbps at 868MHz.

Used in almost every appliance.
Zigbee technology is programmed in a chip form and is used in many devices to function automatically.
It centralizes all the units in one place and enables the remote monitoring.
Introducing devices like smoke and heat sensor, medical and scientific equipment's.


Conclusion


This paper introduces a parking guidance and information system(PGIS) based WSN.
The experimental results show that the PGIS succeeds in detecting various kinds of cars.
The predicted battery life-time using current profiles is over 5 years.
We can control the parking system through our PC by receiving parking slot status from zigbee protocol communication.
One RF camera is attached in parking place, these camera send the video through RF Communication.
