INTRODUCTION

The objective of Go-Kart is to apply the knowledge gained in class and put it into practice. This project will give us an insight on the engineering design process and will allow us to refine our technical skill learned in classes. Communication between team members as well as between different design teams is essential for a successful project. Team management is essential to the project because team members must know how to balance schoolwork, The Go-Kart, & personal responsibilities. The primary goal for this competition is to abide by all the regulations set forth by SAE. This is a necessary step as it will ensure the safety of the driver and will prevent the vehicle from being disqualified. Frame design and body panels will also be designed to give the vehicle a sporty appearance. The main goal is to Design, Analyze,Simulate& Manufacture small Go-Kart Vehicle in extremely low budget

Organization

To aid in the design and analysis of different components of the car the car is made up of several sub teams. Each sub team has a specific in the report with individual goal, engineering specification, design, analysis, etc.
This year TEAM ROAD CHAZOR members have planned as described below:
The design process of the vehicle is iterative and based on various engineering & reverse engineering processes depending upon the Availability, Cost, Standardization, Strength, Ruggedness, Driving feel, Ergonomics & Aesthetics

PURPOSE & GOALS

The chassis is the backbone of the Go-Kart. It must support all the car’s subassemblies as well as protect the driver. The chassis design is crucial to the success of the project because if the chassis fails, that puts the GO-KART and the driver, offer sturdy mounting for all sub-systems, mounting all SAE rules & regulations, and still be lightweight

Design Objective

To build a chassis to meet all of the previously mentioned goals the frame must:
The chassis is the most integral part of any race car due to its interaction with every system on the car as well its primary and most important role –keeping the driver safe. With this in mind the frame as designed around the driver, focusing on safety and comfort first. A second goal of this car is to reduce excess weight without compromise any structural rigidity

STEERING MECHANISM

Introduction & Purpose
The Steering system is a vital component in any vehicle and needs to function properly. A steering system is a collection of components which when working properly will allow a vehicle to follow a preferred course by turning the front wheels using a driver inputted force.
The purpose of steering system is to provide maximum directional control of the vehicle and provide easy maneuveraility of the vehicle. It must e durable to sustain the harsh on on-road and off-road terrain.
Aim
The steering system as a group needs to be lightweight, affordable, reliable, and durable. The steering wheel needs to be easy to turn but out of the way so the driver may get out of the car quickly in case of an emergency

Ackerman’ Steering

It is a term used to define the steering geometry. It gives a relation between the front inside wheel and front outside wheel while taking a turn. This concept is to have a correct turning angle of the steering wheels to be generated during negotiation of a corner or to have the four wheels rolling around a common point during turn. During a turn the outer wheels have to cover a larger radius than the inner radius than the inner ones so the steering angle of the inner wheel will be more than that of outer wheel. This allows the vehicle to travel around the curve without scrubbing the tires.

BRAKING SYSTEM

Introduction:
One of the most important system of any kind of vehicle is Braking system. As name indicates, a system which allow moving body to stop. Every moving body at a particular time needs to come to rest and so vehicle.
Here we are discussing BRAKE SYSTEM before power system, reason behind safety before running the vehicle is prime importance, we can start the vehicle with the help of transmission system but we can’t stop that’s why brake system need to be designed, fabricated and assembled with very high accuracy, safety and reliability.
If vehicle will be equipped with proper braking system as per vehicle specified configuration then driver will be able to control the vehicle speed easily and can stop the vehicle in panic/accidental situation

BACKGROUND AND DESIGN OBJECTIVE

1.Equal energy absorption per unit area to 4130 steel of 3mm thick.
1. Utilize a material that will make a guard of less weight than a 4130 steel guard. The objective of shielding for these fast moving parts is to make sure that they are strong and light in weight. The shielding must extend around the periphery of any belt or chain, thus this includes covering the sprockets and other spinning components. While the shields must cover the moving parts, they must also prevent fingers or loose body parts from being caught in them.
