1. PROJECT DEFINITION

MATS or ManagementAssetTracking System is mains purposed to give services for keep track assetsin a small or large organization. It helps to keep track the location of the assets being used such as laptop, projector and others in a building by other user. The system could acts as security which protected very expensive asset from being stolen or to bring out from the room or areas. It also has to have an automated, efficient monitoring system that allows for accurate assets tracking as well as easy in-and-out access for users. The objective of this verification project is to demonstrate the use of RFID and GSM technology to track company assets location and reduced incidence of theft. This project has initial goals paramount to achieve in the development of the product. The fourmain objectives are as follows:-

2. LITERATURE REVIEW

This RFID “MATS” system is suitable use for small or large business because of low cost and easy to setup. My specified goal in developing this project is to have a fully functional working prototype system. This project will give more attention to its flexibility and convenience where by it will be more reasonable and worthy to implement. This unit are suitable for large or small organisation which run such as training centre, and also have few branch which may be different places. MATS is capable to detect assets locations in the building which different places. Let say a projector and laptop were borrowed from the admin for classroom training. All classrooms had equipped with the MATS reader. When projector and laptop (which have tag RFID) were bring into the classroom, the reader will read the tags and send message via SMS details such name of asset, time and date and location of the assetto the admin/ HQ that the assets is recordedcheck in the classroom required. On the end session, when the assets being detect for second time, it will recorded as check out and once again it will send message via SMS details that the asset being brought out from the classroom. As this is a standalone unit, the reader can be implemented anywhere in the same building or in the different building. The MATS reader consist the RFID Reader and the GSM 300 modem while the tag is just the normal RFID tag which will be attached to the assets.
In this project, I’m going to implement the concepts and principles I have learned through the wireless communication and digital system As I learned in wireless communication course, I found interested with RFID Technology and GSM Technology. In this project, I‘ve been taught that RFID have several categories need to know.An RFID system consists of RFID tags, a means of reading orinterrogating the tags and a means of communicating the data toa host computer or information management system. The system
will also include a facility for entering or programming data intotags, if it is not done at the source by the manufacturer. Theremay also be present antennas for communication between thetag and the reader.A typical RFID system is made up of three components:
1. Tags,
2. Readers
3. Host computer system.
In this project, we are going to replace host computer system with the microcontroller 89S52. The demonstration of the prototype will be using RFID reader module plug and play category Low Frequencies (LF) which using 125kHz. Normally this frequency is often used for access control, animal tracking, asses tracking and others but the category are chosen just to demonstrate how the prototype works. For the Low Frequency RFID reader type, only can read distance around 10cm. So by practically it is better to use UHF (850 to 950MHz) which can go up to 3metres and more.

Theory of Operation

As the microcontroller keeps all the memory and I/O ports inside it, it contains few components in its outer configuration. Power to the IC supplied is +5v DC.In this RFID module is connected to microcontroller via RS232(serial port) Thenmax232. In this project, when RFID readerdetect tag RFID, the card number will be send to microcontroller through the port and acknowledge it. This microcontroller works on the program inside thememory and generates the login therefore it does not require any logiccircuits. The program will find memory register which the same card number which had been store IN or OUT. The program will then know the details of the asset. We also interfaced 8051 microcontroller with sim-com 300 modem to decode the received message and do the required action. The protocol used for the communication between the two is AT command. The microcontroller pulls the SMS received by phone, decodes it, recognizes the Mobile no. and then switches on the relays attached to its port to control the appliances. After successful operation, controller sends back the acknowledgement to the user’s mobile through SMS.

PROJECT PLAN

To develop this project first of all we need to get the hardware and components. After purchasing components we can begin to construct the main board that is micro controller and LCD. As for GSM 300 were easily to get in the market so we don’t need to do any construction except testing. Critical part is regards learning AT commands for communication between microcontroller and GSM300. During the construction normally will be hard on the micro controller side which have to be careful when do soldering. After completed construction the next is to do the testing. The testing is included the power circuit and check all point which received voltage is needed. In the testing also we need to dump programming in the microcontroller. Before that we need to install the required software before interface with microcontroller using RS232 with PC. Next we will integrate between RFID module plug and play and GSM300 module. After this integration, we can run test the full program and begin to debug the program or the board circuit. Finally we can assemble the integrated circuit board into chassis. Estimated to completed this project will need 24 working days.
Tutor Marked Assignments are useful in improving learning skills to make the student gain knowledge easily and be a meritorious student. NIOS has developed various means and strategies to help the student learn and be a successful student. Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) is one of these means TMA helps to develop regular study habits in students and give students the practice of writing answers to questions thus having a kind of essay in preparation for the final exam .

NIOS has developed various means and strategies to help students learn well and succeed. TMA is one of those tools that plays a very important role in the learning process through the Open and Distance Learning System (ODL). TMAs help students learn about their progress and level of achievement and develop regular study habits. They also assist in the design of diagnostic and remediation strategies during the Personal Contact Programs (PCP).

Your internal evaluation will be done through a Tutor Marked Assignment in each subject that will be in the form of a brochure. The tutors of the subject in the AIs will correct the assignments and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement. The TMA will also be uploaded to the NIOS website from which students can download them. From 2015-16, the Internal Assessment (IA) in the Secondary / Senior exam will take 20% of theory as a continuous and complete assessment. These marks will be displayed on the mark sheet along with external examination marks that will carry 80% weight on each item. TMA is applicable for admission via Stream-1 only. TMA must be submitted before appearing in the Public Examination of the particular subject.
