Employee Cubicle Management System

Abstract


Cubicles are a commonplace through many offices. Whether it is a call center,
insurance companies or a small business looking to maximize space, cubicles are a cost
efficient way to set up an individualized work space for each employee.
When moving offices or setting up workspaces, build out for individual offices
can easily push a project over budget quickly. Often it wastes space as well where as
offices usually are set though out the wall space leaving an open middle forcing more
room to be needed per employee. Cubicles allow for you to maximize the density of your
office and how much floor space that will be allocated per employee.
Defining a work space with a cubicle gives each employee a feeling of personal
space and allows them to 'own' their area, better investing them in your business. It's a
way to help your employees to feel like they have a place in the company and not just
thrown into a room. This allows for them to also personalize their area making their work
environment more comfortable which will further increase productivity.
One can also expect to save some on cubicles that have desks/table areas built into
them. This is a way to efficiently provide a work space for the employee without
incurring the cost of additional furniture. Defining work spaces in this manner allow for
you to maximize space as well as roll in the cost of furniture because of how they are
constructed.
Overall, in the modern workspace, with the advent of telephones and computers,
the cubicle makes a better way for any company to make the best use of their space. Gone
are the days of the open office format because of the need for greater productivity and
privacy.
Our project Employee Cubicle Management System aims at managing these cubicles and
helps in searching for cubicle.


Introduction

This project is aimed at tracking and having the view of the cubicle and the
person sitting in it. Assuming there is already system that has the cubicle numbers and the
telephone number data, at the same time this system will also need to take the floor plan
as input and maintain the cubicle plan and the seat numbers. The floor plan input is
needed to make system more robust and adaptable to the new buildings coming up.


. Current Scenario

In an organization that is spread in a larger area and having multiple buildings, it
is always difficult to find the employee location i.e. the building in which he is working,
the floor, cubicle no, ODC(Offshore Development Center) etc. This becomes more
difficult when a new employee comes in and any one wants to know his location.
Normally, in such a case a user ask to his colleague or some other person who might
know. Again, the way the person explains matters a lot i.e. the way to get to the
employee’s cubicle. This basically includes lot of time wastage.
4. Proposed Solution
To avoid above mention situation or scenario, we decided to make an application
which will help anyone in an organization to find any other employee location. This
includes building in which employee is working, his floor, ODC, cubicle no, desk phone
no etc. The output will be in graphical format i.e. it will show the floor plan, with
highlighted cubicle in which employee seats.
