Fancy yarns are usually produced by irregular plying of yarns (staple or continuous filament yarn) and are characterized by abrupt periodic effects. The periodicity of this may be random or uniform, often quite large or noticeably novelty effect is brought about by programmed variation in twist, frequency or rate of input in one or two components during plying and twisting. The effect may be brought by texturising effects like air jet texturing, false twist, knit-de-knit, gear crimped etc. Many mechanisms of doubling frame are available. Attachment on ring frame like such attachment by variators, SITRA spin fan technology etc.are now available. Special cover spinning spindles have been developed which produce fancy core yarns.

Following this trend, the project was aimed at the production of fancy yarn on ring frame by roller-shape modifications. In this project, we have the back roll is changed to vary the break draft and also the total draft which gives a yarn with fine and coarse strands, with the aim of producing a fancy type of effect.
