It is a full-featured, open source job scheduling system that can be integrated with, or used along side virtually any J2EE or J2SE application - from the smallest stand-alone application to the largest e-commerce system. EJS can be used to create simple or complex schedules for executing tens, hundreds, or even tens-of-thousands of jobs; jobs whose tasks are defined as standard Java components or EJBs. The Scheduler includes several enterprise-class features.

EJS is capable of running in virtually any Java environment, from free-standing applications to J2EE application servers. EJS supports both RAM (volatile) and persistent storage of jobs.

EJS is highly scalable, very lightweight and supports very complex scheduling.

Scheduling tasks in J2EE applications is a common need. There is more to job scheduling than running backups at 3 oclock in the morning.
