The historic village Palahi is situated on a link road between Hoshiarpur road and National Highway No I (G.T. road), three Kilometers from Phagwara, alongside the Mehli-Mehtan bypass linking Chandigarh-Jalandhar cities on the Northern side of Phagwara.

The village had been hallowed by the visit of three Sikh Gurus- Guru Hargobind Sahib (sixth Guru), Guru HarRaiJi (seventh Guru), GuruTegBahadurJi (ninth Guru). Guru Hargobind Sahib had fought his last battle with the Mughals in and around this village. This had been authenticated by the writings of eminent Muslims & Sikh historians like Mohasamfani and Principal Satbir Singh. The young Tyag Mal, the younger son of Guru Hargobind Sahib, fought so bravely in the Palahi battle that he was glorified for his mastery over sword as TegBahadur (one brave with sword) here. Thus the ninth Sikh master Guru TegBahadur was christened as TegBahadur at this village. The seventh Sikh master, Guru HarRai Sahib, also visited the village alongwith 2200 horse riders. Seven-stories beautiful Gurdwara had been built in the village in memory of Guru Hargobind Sahib.

The village once had wild growth of a large number of trees called PALLAH and derived its name originally from these as PALLAHI. This name got later modified as PALAHI

The Gurus left a rich legacy of valour & spiritualism among the villagers. Naturally, its inhabitants took a prominent part in various religious and freedom movements including Jaito Da Morcha, BabbarAkali movement, Gurdwara movement and the Independence struggle.

It was the success in Jaito Da Morcha which the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, had described as fifty percent victory of country’s freedom struggle. The village had remained a hub of BabbarAkalis, the great warriors of Freedom movement.
