GS.A is a counter culture movement that raises awareness on social issues of violence, gender and discrimination. We are a group of pro-active liberals, rebels, thinkers and activists who question the status quo; and we believe in the power of the internet to reach out. What began as an outlet to vent frustrations and voice out, has now taken shape as an extensive movement, on social networks online. With an aim to set forth a revolution in social mindsets and perspectives, we engage the youth in conversations around issues that are less talked about, sensitive and yet, highly significant. We feel that the current mainstream conversation on fundamental issues is limiting and does not assess socioeconomic and political situations well. While we completely support the agenda of immediate reform, responsive action and raising our voices, at the same time, we believe that a long term direction or goal is necessary to direct our actions. And with that in mind, our posters, memes, in-your-face messages and upcoming campaigns are asking people to step out, get together and engage. We may have been crippled by our education systems on such global social issues, but it is the age of internet. This is our time, we ought to be the change we want to see tomorrow.
PROBLEM DEFINITION
For one, we wish there was no need for the many organizations working and fighting for gender rights and equality. All of us are idealistic or naive in that sense, it is hard to come to terms to the horrendous injustices that we see around us.
Why GotStared.at? Because there is always a shortage of people actively working for the rights and freedoms of large sections of the society. And there is always a need torejuvenatea movement or a cause with new ideas, creative methods and contemporary forms of activism.
It is our objective, our goal, and a passionate endeavour to engage with as many members of our society. The one’s at the edges, the one’s right in the center, and the millions in between. Cutting across all boundaries, we hope to reach out to everyone and engage them in insightful conversations, endearing action and inevitable change.
While it can be said that progress of human society has been rather slow when it comes to providing social justice and equal opportunities to a majority – if not all, it is very important to note that we are still standing on the shoulders of giants. The efforts and timeless contributions of the many activists, revolutionaries, innovators and thinkers before us have to be acknowledged.
We are no selfless saints or scholars, we are not out to prove anything. The problems that we see around bother us as much as they bother you, we have just found the right opportunity to unite our efforts towards a common goal. If nothing else, we do this to better ourselves!
NEED FOR A NEW SYSTEM
On the surface, you may have seen our work. Yes, we make posters and yes, some of them have gone viral. But if you ask us, that’s not the real “how” behind our work. The posters are the means to an end, not the end.
Our goal is to work on the one thing that we believe can help address the multitude of issues that surround most gender-related concerns. The one thing that, although considered futile, is single handedly capable of changing mindsets and influencing cultures; the one tool that we believe can actually change things.
Conversation.
We design our posters to be thought and conversation provoking because we believe that only when we start discussing the issues that govern our lifestyle can we begin to question and consequently change them. We design them with love, wit and boldness to provoke thought.
We want to plant the seed of conversation in a way that webegin to question everything around us and reach a point where we begin to see the systemic problems that cause things like sexual harassment. Posters and discussions are a way of getting there.
We are all in a position to influence a certain number of people. But more importantly, we are all in a position to learn. And we believe every revolution starts in our minds.
Proposed System:
Social Networking Application interact by virtue of their shared passion. Users can interact to the system by means of some front-end form. A user can enter to the systemthroughaloginform.BygivingavalidIDandPasswordusercan log into the system. If theuser is valid then theuser is allowed to enter the system. After Login a user can view his/her home page, post audio messages, can view the profile, can update profile, start conversation and change the settings. Every stage data is stored in the databaseafter checking and testing.
Conclusion
While developing a system a conscious effort has been made to create and develop software package, making use of available tools and techniques. While making a system an eye has been kept to make it user friendly. As such one may hope that system will be acceptable to any kind of
user, and adequately meet his/her needs.
