Title : “Lossy Image Compression using JPEG Algorithm”

Description : This project illustrates JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) based lossy
digital image compression particularly for those images produced by digital
photography. The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable
tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves 10:1
compression with little perceptible loss in image quality. JPEG compression is
used in a number of image file formats. JPEG/Exif is the most common image
format used by digital cameras and other photographic image capture devices;
along with JPEG/JFIF, it is the most common format for storing and
transmitting photographic images on the World Wide Web.

Project 2(mini)

Title : “Lossy Image Compression and De-noising using HAAR Wavelet”

Description : This project describes an efficient calculation scheme for 2D-Haar wavelet
image compression and de-noising. The work is particularly targeted towards
wavelet image compression using Haar wavelet with an idea to minimize the
computational requirements by applying different thresholds values for the
wavelet coefficients and these results are obtained in fraction of seconds and thus
to improve the quality of the reconstructed (de-noise) image. To compare the
compressed and de-noised image with PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) and
MSE (Mean Square Error) quality parameters.

Project 3(Final)

Title : “Compression and De-noising of Image using DCT and DWT Techniques”

Description : This project illustrates comparison of DCT and DWT based image compression
and de-noising techniques, compare different wavelets with different threshold
values and adding ‘Salt & Pepper’ noise to image and de-noising, then some of its
applications in image processing. The scope of the work involves Compression,
De-noising and ‘Salt & Pepper’ noise, image clarity and comparing the results of
DCT and DWT of wavelet families, to find the effect of the threshold levels, to
find out retained energy and lost, to find Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and
to find Mean Square Error (MSE), knowing the best wavelet.

Title : “PHS Based Online Vehicle Tracking System”

Description : This project illustrates Personal Handy-phone System [PHS] based vehicles position
tracking with the help of Low Earth Orbit Satellites constantly. The vehicle owner is
able to view the road map of the place where he is moving or heading road or
traffic-jammed. Vehicle tracking makes use of RF frequency to assist the RTO,
Cargo Companies, Police Department, and Public Transport to know the position of
vehicles. With the help of PHS technology, the vehicle is detectable if it is or it is
not in reachable place.
