Abstracts: The suspension system of a passenger car provides isolation between the occupants in the car and the road surface. The three goals of the suspension system are to provide ride isolation from vibration, limit suspension travel and maintain road holding characteristics. Each of these three goals conflicts with three others. The suspension performance as pertains can be studied using a simple quarter car model of a suspension system. However, the handling characteristics and the coupling between the quarter of the system must be studied using a full car model. A horizontal divider plate suspension spring mounted vehicle suspension system is provided. The suspension system contains as least one horizontally mounted divider plate and spring which provides damping resistance towards unpleasant vibration ride within the vehicle. The objective by compact layout is configuration increase the space to accommodate for the shock as allows for the use of full travel divider plate in small space. The full length with all associated benefits can be use within a smaller space. The suspension system uses coil spring and mac-pherson struts.
