Abstracts: Grating of cassava means the transformation of cassava tubers into pulp form. Cassava grating machines are mainly used in African countries and the company interested to start manufacturing of this machine in Gujarat. This project work is on the design and fabrication of a cassava grating machine. It is aimed at providing a base for the commercial production of a cassava grating machine, using locally available raw materials at a relatively low cost. This work is intended to help solve some of the problems hindering a successful design and fabrication of a cassava peeling machine. Presently, there are problem of designing & manufacturing of drum of cassava grating machine. Our aim of the project from the technical view is to reduce the cost of the grating machine because in the region where it is going to use is rural area. One is its cost and second is profile of drum. So, the objective is to reduce the cost as well as to optimize drum design.Capacity of cassava grating machine is 60 kg/hr. Cassava produces a large amount of cyanogenic glycosides so in selecting materials, for construction, adequate care must be taken not to use materials that cannot degrade due to the acidic content in cassava. So our aim to modify the design of the existing cassava grater(dimensions) to commercially large scale sizes, to use stainless steel drums used in cassava grating machines due to the acidic nature of the cassava fluid & To promote healthy consumption of cassava products.
