Abstracts: Due to increasing demand in highway construction, scientists and researchers are constantly trying to improve the performance of bitumen pavement. Asphalt concretes are widely used in pavements. Due to increase in vehicles, high traffic resulting in deformation of pavements due to excessive stress. Permanent deformation happens when pavement does not have sufficient stability, improper compaction and insufficient pavement strength. Bituminous mix design is dedicated balancing act the properties of various aggregate and bitumen content. For a given aggregate gradation, the optimum bitumen content is estimated by satisfying a number of mix design parameters. In this project the bituminous mixes are used as per the MORTH specification provides for preparing the layers of the road pavement. Our main aim is to design the three layers of flexible pavements like base course, binder course, and surface course. The selection of materials used during the project is as per the MORTH specification. In this project only strength aspects of pavement have been considered. Preliminary tests, such as Marshall Stability test is performed to find the optimum bitumen content for increasing the stability of road pavement. As per the analysis and results the maximum marshal stability value is 950 Kg and corresponding bitumen content is 4.5 %. This indicates the maximum stability of base course for the optimum bitumen content.
