Abstracts: Housing shortage in India is increasing rapidly, mainly because supply is much less than the housing demands. In urban area, the problem is more complex and complicated as the pressure for houses and services due to both natural increase and migration. The most important resources required to purchase House is finance. Housing plays an important role in a country’s economy, typically accounting for 10 to 20 percent of total economic activity. In this present project, investigations have been made on all the Housing finance Institutes in India and their mechanism in system. Present project is a classical example for affordable shelter, economical weaker section and low income groups for metropolitan city like Surat as Surat is one of the fastest growing cities between Mumbai and Ahmedabad corridor. The project explains urban planning concept, traces the development of the republic’s enormous public housing program, identifies the mechanisms that contribute to the program’s success, and discusses factors that explain the priority given to the public housing. The basic idea for the development of this project is to provide well developed housing society where people can stay with ease, safety & comfort enjoying various facilities.
