PLC

PLC is known as PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROL which is a device and control the output by the program.PLC is a digital computer designed for multiple inputs and output arrangements.

History of PLC

With development of microprocessor the process of control to an output and automation was totally change. Instead of doing the control in physical wiring, using a plc it is done by a program. Due to the use of program it is called as PLC. The first plc is MODICON. It is design on 1969. The first PLC, model name 084, was invented by Morley in 1969 as a replacer of relay. He is considered as the "father" of PLC. The first commercial successful PLC, the 184, was introduced in 1973. Now a day different country use different type of advance plc like Siemens, AB, Modicon, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Saia etc.

Advantages of PLCs

Reliability.
Flexibility in programming and reprogramming.
Cost effective for controlling complex systems.
Small physical size, shorter project time.
High speed of operation.
Ability to communicate with computer systems in the plant.
Ease of maintenance /troubleshooting.
Reduced space.
Energy saving.
Accuracy.
Greater Computational abilities.
Reduce downtime.

Conclusion

Hence we see that PLC is widely used in industries.
PLCs have been gaining popularity on the factory and automation.
Future of advanced automation.
Better control and management activity.
