Abstracts: Triple effect falling film evaporator with backward feed is use to concentrate 32% NaOH solution obtained from the cell house of the caustic soda plant of GACL. The vacuum system used in the evaporator system is the liquid ring vacuum pump. The evaporation vacuum system which provides vacuum to all three effects will be studied to provide right kind of elevation along with elevation of different stage of evaporation. Also the problems created in the vacuum system will be studied well to develop a efficient and energy saving vacuum system with less maintenance. As an alternative we may use the seal of heavy liquid to provide adequate barometric length at different stage and provide right vacuum in all stages which may be consistent without any extra effort thereby saving lot of energy in maintaining vacuum. As such it is not a problem for industry but we recommend the technology which will save energy consumption in maintaining vacuum and thereby reducing the cost of production.
