Abstracts: A heat exchanger is a device in which two fluid streams, one hot and another cold, are brought into ‘thermal contact’ in order to affect transfer of heat from the hot fluid stream to cold. It provides a relatively large area of heat transfer for a given volume of the equipment. The construction also caters for easy cleaning and maintenance of equipment. As we have seen heat exchanger is normally shell and tube type but for modification we have done in our project that is shell and spiral tube heat exchanger by that we are going to heat the water with use of hot water. A composed of an inner tube extending through and spaced from an outer tube by radial partition walls is coiled helically. The helical composite tube coil is housed in a tank having an interior insulated surface and evacuated to minimize heat loss through the tank wall. The hot water supply to one end of the shell. Water is supplied under atmospheric pressure to the start of the coiled and hot water comes out at the other end of coiled tube.
