Abstracts: Extended end plate truss bolted steel connections are mostly used in steel structures due to their simple fabrication technique and speedily site erection. But, the flush end plate connection represents an extremely complex and highly indeterminate analytical problem with a large numbers of parameter affecting its structural behavior. To understand the real behavior of this semi-rigid connection, laboratory test is the most accurate approach, but it is time consuming and costly to approach. With the advance of computer technology and powerful finite element software packages, the finite element method offers an ideal tool for solving such a complex problem. Thus in this study, ANSYS 12.1 is used to analyze the steel truss bolted joint. Initially some basic model will be prepared for analysis for checking the accuracy and time consumption by the software to solve the problems. The results, when obtained from validation of a researched model , modification to the model will be done and how the stresses near the connections are to be reduced would be found. Good results are obtained for different results of stresses, displacement etc. for some basic models. Also it has been observed that it provides good accuracy in the results, it is not time consuming and also it is proved to be economical.
