Abstracts: A Point of Sale (POS) system is a system for managing the sales of retail goods. The term is used to refer to the software and hardware associated at checkout stands, and all of the bundled features which are included. Most retailers use this type of system at their checkout stands or counters, and several major manufacturers offer ones designed for various types of businesses, ranging from grocery stores to clothing boutiques. Using a POS system makes a business much more efficient, lowering the costs of doing business while improving customer service and making the environment more pleasant to work in. The physical location of a transaction, is usually refers to any device or system that is used to record the transaction for the retailer. Sometimes used to classify all of these together. (.e. the POS industry); e.g. the retailer shopping store check out register or the retail checkout counter. POS will consist of 1 or more POS Workstations at any given Business Location. The option to utilize PDA software (with a UPC barcode scanner interface) is available for the purpose of taking inventory. The PDA will use a wireless connection to interface with the Main Data Store. The POS Project aims to fill needs such as, POS will be a tool for small businesses to accomplish various tasks associated with small business management with improved features. Cashier perform such as the system will note date and time when cashier logs into and out of the system accept payment from a customer. Payment can come in the following forms: Credit Card, Cash,Voucher(Gift Card). Manger perform Start and stop a security recording session, approve the session, signing off on the amount of money in the cash register at the beginning of the session, or signing off on the amount of money in the cash drawer at the end of the session. Approve an Inventory Manager’s inventory analysis. Inventory Manager perform Register new product: system provides interface for capturing details of new product which includes; product name, product code, cost price, selling price, packaging units, expiry date among others. The hardware is also distinctive and important. A typical system includes a display screen for the clerk, a customer display, a cash drawer, a credit card swiping system, a printer, and a bar code scanner, along with the computer loaded with the POS software. Custom features may be added or removed, depending on the industry. A restaurant system, for example, may have a feature that prints order tickets directly in the kitchen, or a grocery store may have an integrated scale for weighing goods.
