Abstracts: The main purpose of Sewage treatment process is to remove the various constituents of the polluting load: solids, organic carbon, nutrients, inorganic salts, metals, pathogens etc. Effective wastewater collection and treatment are of great importance from the standpoint of both; environmental and public health. Sewage/Wastewater treatment operations are done by various methods in order to reduce its water and organic content, and the ultimate goal of wastewater management is the protection of the environment in a manner commensurate with public health and socio-economic concerns. This project deals with the design of sewage treatment plant for the shedhavabdar village, Bhavnagar District. The population of the village is 4650 according to 2010 census. The conveyance of sewage in the village is through small gutters which are directly discharged in to the river body. The problem was noticed during the reconnaissance survey conducted in the village. The sampling of the raw sewage was taken. The sampling point is near to the river just before the point where the sewage joins the river. Analysis of the raw sewage was done to determine the various parameters like BOD, COD, SS, pH etc. It was found that BOD of raw sewage is140 mg/l and COD is 250 mg/l. It was also found that the other parameters are also not within the prescribed limits of CPCB. Therefore a treatment plant is designed by projecting the population for 30 years. Population projection methods like arithmetic increase method, geometric increase method and incremental increase methods are used to project the village population. Arithmetic increase method is considered for the design of sewage treatment plant.
