Abstracts: “Reservoir evaporation forecasting at Aji I Dam” is the main part of present study. The area under consideration is Aji I Dam situated on Aji river. The Water is the most essential element for human being. Water for any use is stored in large reservoirs so that it can be used for future various multipurpose uses. The water surface is exposed to atmosphere in such large reservoir and the water gets evaporated from them owing to many factors. Thus it is necessary to account for the losses as this would have great impact in the water use in future. Aji Dam is large water resource reservoirs built these days and has height of 25.90 m with catchment area of 142.45 km2. Thus it was necessary to account for evaporation losses. Thus the prime objective to this work is to develop trend equation and forecast the evaporation losses and the global factors responsible for it. The factors which accounts for evaporation losses are temperature, wind velocity and relative humidity. A trend equation is generated for each of the above factors and values are forecasted for the next three years i.e. for 2014, 2015 and 2016 using these trend equations. For the present study we conclude that the evaporation losses decrease from 2001 to 2013. The factors responsible for evaporation also shows appropriate result i.e. Temperature and Wind velocity shows a decreasing trend and relative humidity shows an increasing trend.
