Abstracts: Fire hydrant system is nowadays most commonly seen and a compulsion in many of the government and residential building. The topic we deal with is the “Modification of fire hydrant valve”, which is an essential component of fire hydrant system. Fire hydrant valve (landing valve) is responsible for the supply of water from the source to the place of requirement. Existing landing valve had many drawbacks. The new specification set by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) has overcome the various limitations. According to the new specification the pattern had to be modified and various other parameters like gating design, risering design etc. also have to be designed to get the defects free product. In this project we have studied and modified various parameters involve in manufacturing of landing valve using sand casting process. This modification helped us in manufacturing the landing valve according to the revised specification set by Bureau of Indian Standard.
