Abstracts: In current scenario industries adopt various problem solving techniques like SIX SIGMA, QC STORY METHODOLOGY, 5S, MUDA etc. We work on QC STORY METHODOLOGY. After defining the problem we have to observe the processes used to manufacture the component. In observation stage we find the causes which leads rejection of component. Next step is to make Pareto chart. It gives idea to find major causes among the all causes. Then after we have to do analysis to find the best possible action that helps to reduce rejection. Analysis includes brain storming, why why, cause effect diagram etc. Possible causes - To be arrived at after Brain Storming using defective as well as good product. Cause & Effect diagram - Remove apparently irrelevant causes as per summary made at observation step. Probable causes- Probable Causes to be arrived at from Possible Causes, based on above steps. Probable Cause Test - To be done for all probable causes. Identify the tool to be used to test hypothesis. Decide whether hypothesis valid/invalid Root causes – Validated causes from Hypothesis Testing. After this to eliminate root causes action is taken. In action stage consider effectiveness expected, cost, ease of implementation, productivity etc to prioritize the solution. Next step is to check result after implementation of action. Then we need to standardize. In standardization we have to update all the relevant documents like Drawings/specifications, PFD, PFMEA, Control plan, SOP, Check list etc, & mention the reference of the same.
