Abstracts: In our project work for final year we decide to have IDP on the “A simulation of sand casting” as per the guidelines of GTU. In 7thsem we have learned details of sand casting and nature of defects occurring in it. Due to this defects there were lots of rejection and reworks which were adding extra cost to company. In 8thsem we have reduce this defects by doing simulation of casting using software “GEO-CASTING”. This software works on Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Thus in order to reduce defects and to make casting defect free. Casting process simulation uses numerical methods to calculate cast component quality considering mold filling, solidification and cooling, and provides a quantitative prediction of casting mechanical properties, thermal stresses and distortion. By applying this method rejection was reduce and thus company was able to meet the customer demand on time.
