Abstracts: There are several methods for the design of water tank like Approximate Method, IS Code Method and Finite Element Method. All these methods are based on its own theoretical background. All These methods are bit tedious and difficult to perform which consumes a lot of time and results are also not reliable. Variation in moments obtained is much high as compared to actual moment in the structure. Thus the comparison between these methods is essential and their analysis is to be carried out under different circumstances to know the best method having minimal variations under given conditions. This analysis and comparison will not only save the precious time from tedious calculation but will also be helpful in designing water tank more efficiently. Hence, in this project work, it has been planned to execute the design of water tanks resting on ground by using different methods as listed above, compare results for different sizes, shapes and capacities and to make concluding remarks.
