Abstracts: Solar power is the flow of energy from the sun. The primary forms of solar energy are heat and light. In recent years, solar energy has been strongly promoted as a viable energy source. one of the simplest and most direct application of this energy is the conversion of solar radiation into heat. The cost of these energy systems depend on the construction and maintenance of the plant, the source of energy is free and unlimited. For this, the solar flat plate collector absorbs the sun radiation and heats the water. Sunlight passes through glazing and strikes the absorber plate, which heats up, changing solar energy into heat energy. The preheated water is then heated to evaporate in solar still. The vapour get collected and condenses by the relatively cold glazing material. In this project, an effort is made for experimental study and fabrication of flat plate collector, which is utilized in solar still for improving efficiency. Different parameters include glazing materials, thickness, absorbing materials, angle of orientation and mass flow rate of water. Chapter 1 gives brief idea about solar flat plate collector and solar still. Chapter 2 gives the conclusion of literature reviewed while working on the project. Chapter 3 includes experimental work which contains fabrication work done for the project. Chapter 4 gives mathematical modeling and final mathematical result of the project and conclusion of the project.
