Abstracts: This project concerns the design and implementation of a system following the architecture and patterns of enterprise applications. The main idea was to develop a secure and fault tolerant application. This application was developed following the Model-View-Controller design pattern. This was accomplished by using Struts, a framework designed for developing J2EE web applications. The Model component was developed following the hibernate technology. It offers an easy to use framework for mapping an object-oriented domain model to a traditional relational database. The application can be used by the employees of the organization such as colleges or offices to apply for leave using the intranet. This application removes the clumsy paperwork involved in the original leave request procedure.
